Welcome to our farm and to our web site. We are extremely glad that you stopped by for a visit with us. We have assembled some outstanding genetics as well as some scrapbook items and information that we hope you find not only enjoyable, but also informative.
A&J is owned and managed by Anita & Jack Thayer. We do all the work and all the marketing on our farm. We have learned so much about not only breeding good cattle, but also how to present them properly.
We have had a lot of input and advice from so many great Angus breeders, as well as "plain common sense" folks who depend entirely on cattle and agriculture for their living. We constantly work toward breeding cattle that are functional as well as possessing the valuable carcass traits that are so prevalent in our finished product. Our cattle must be able to sustain themselves on pasture for the majority of the year. We supplement them as necessary, but our goal is for them to flesh easily, calve unassisted, produce adequate milk, breed back in a short time and wean a heavy calf. Disposition if of utmost importance. We don't have any "crazies" on our farm. They leave very soon.
We handle our cattle in a quiet manner, using facilities that don't excite them unnecessarily.
On a personal note, we try to be a contributing factor in our community as we support our local 4-H, FFA, FCCLA organizations, Chamber of Commerce, and attend auctions at our local schools to help raise funds for projects they have.
Lastly, but not least is our dedication and support of our church. Our faith is number one in our lives. We believe that all we have been allowed to accomplish in our lives is a tremendous gift to us and sent in a very special way. We hope you have found the same thing in your lives also.
Again, thanks for visiting with us.
